SCAN is a professional and social organization for active duty, reserve, and retired Navy Supply Corps Officers living in the Pacific Northwest.
Greetings SCAN! I want to thank all of you who were able to support the SCAN events that took place this past summer. A lot of you worked hard behind the scenes, and the events were exceptionally executed.
- FISC Puget Sound hosted RADM Mark Heinrich, COMFISCS, during his visit in July. We hosted Admiral’s Calls at NBK-Bremerton and Bangor, aboard USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN in Everett, and during a social function; we all had a great time, personally and professionally.
- LCDR Jake Hofteizer coordinated a round of golf for FISC Puget Sound’s civilian and military personnel at McCormick Woods Golf Club. A fun time was had by all.
- Congratulations to CDR Tom Graebner who received the 2009 Admiral Stan Arthur award as Navy Military Logistician of the Year. This highly prestigious award recognizes the Navy military logistician who exemplifies excellence in logistics planning and execution.
- LT Sonny Acosta coordinated professional development tours, with SCAN members visiting SYSCO Foods’ Corporate Office, Starbucks’ Coffee Headquarters and Starbucks’ Roasting Plant. The tours included presentations of corporate business practices, supply chain management, distribution methodology and global transportation network models. Bravo Zulu to Sonny for the success of these tours.
- The SCAN Team is finishing up a highly successful fund raising campaign at SAFECO Field during the Seattle Mariners season, with projected proceeds of $5,000. Bravo Zulu to all of you who participated in manning the food concessionaire stand. SCAN truly appreciates your individual sacrifices at work and home to make this happen.
- Congratulations to LT Sonny Acosta (FISC Puget Sound), LT Rustin Dozeman (PMO) and, LT Elbert Pama (USS JOHN C STENNIS) for their selections to LCDR, and to LCDR Al McKibben on his recent promotion.
Hope you all have a great PACNORWEST fall!
